A Suzuki Hayabusa...Or Is It?

Through a lack of anything new to post, I've decided to post pictures of a bike that was parked in our basement parking lot; at first glance it appears to be a Hayabusa but on closer inspection, gives away it's actual pedigree.

Note the following:
  • The speedometer belongs to the Hunk

  • The fuel tank says Suzuki but it also has the logo for Ferrari

  • There were other less obvious indications like the shock absorbers and the handle bar which wouldn't really be noticable in the pics so there aren't any
And once again, please excuse the graininess and generally terrible picture quality, I don't have a proper camera anymore and have to make do with my phone.

I have to say, this is one of the most impressive body kits that i have seen, but then again, I've never seen one of a GSXR before. The best way to spot a fake is to look beneath the kit, and the only things left unexposed are the wheels. Usually the guys spend an exorbitant amount of money on the kit, but don't bother about the tyres (since they cost close to 10K a piece :D ). Next there are the brakes. Most of these monsters have a dual disk in the front and a single one in the back, which usually takes up the entire inside of the wheel. Then there are the shock absorbers (that u have already mentioned), the front ones are usually inverted in superbikes, and the rear ones are usually monoshock ones, not like the springs visible in this bike. Another thing is the wheelbase. Since they can't change the wheelbase of a bike that easily, these bikes usually look much shorter than the actual bikes they are based on. There u go, now u can spot-the-not right away, without a closer inspection :) Oh n I almost forgot, check out the kick start on the Hayabusa, that's gotta be a first :D Also, these bikes never have a main stand. There are a million more trivial points, but I've already said more than u've in ur post :D

@Wolfenstine: That was one long comment! :) You do seem to know your bikes and kits!

@Anonymous: So true!

Those are some pretty cool machines on that page! Nice!

I can say nothing about those machines as my knowledge about them is zero :D

But nice to see a post here!

@Mona: I'm no expert myself, Mona! :) But Wolfestine, on the other hand...!

I'm trying to post but work and some side projects keep me busy nowadays. It's always nice to see your comments too :)

The nasty-fast 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa just got badder! The Hayabusa, along with the Kawasaki ZX-14, have been regarded as the fastest production motorcycles in the world. Now Suzuki claims to stand alone at the top as the fastest motorcycle in production today. The previous version had a displacement of 1299cc, the 2008 model now boasts 1340cc. Compression on this beast is now 12.5 to 1, up from 11 to 1 helping to add a 12 percent gain in power. New titanium valves, a refined fuel injection, and chrome-moly connecting rods take this bike to a new level of performance. This ride is stunning at 110 foot-pounds of torque and will run through the 1/4 mile in less than 10 seconds!
